Amber-Dawn Bear Robe

wuchs in der Siksika Nation in Alberta, Kanada, auf, erwarb einen MA in American Indian Studies und einen zweiten MA in Kunstgeschichte, beide an der University of Arizona. Derzeit ist sie Dozentin der Fakultät für Kunstgeschichte in der Abteilung für Museumsstudien am Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. Dieses Jahr kuratierte Bear Robe eine Modeausstellung für das Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, die im August 2022 eröffnet wurde. Seit vielen Jahren produziert sie Modenschauen der Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA). Walk with Pride, eine von Bear Robe produzierte Kurzdokumentation der SWAIA-Modenschau, gewann im September 2020 einen regionalen Emmy. Sie ist stellvertretendes Vorstandsmitglied der Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), CO, und des Wheelwright Museums, NM, und sitzt im Kuratoriumsausschuss für Vital Spaces, NM. Zuvor war sie Direktorin/Kuratorin von Urban Shaman: Zeitgenössische Kunst der Aborigines, Winnipeg, Kanada.

Amber-Dawn Bear Robe, from Siksika Nation, Alberta, Canada, achieved an MA in American Indian Studies and a second MA degree in Art History, both from the University of Arizona. Currently, she is Assistant Faculty of Art History in the Museum Studies department at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, NM. Presently, Bear Robe is curating a fashion exhibition for the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, opening August 2022, and producing the annual Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) Fashion Show. Walk with Pride, a SWAIA fashion show documentary short, produced by Bear Robe, won a regional Emmy, September 2020. She is an acting trustee for the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) board, CO, and the Wheelwright Museum board, NM, and sits on the curatorial committee for Vital Spaces, NM. Previously, she was the Director/Curator of Urban Shaman: Contemporary Aboriginal Art, Winnipeg, Canada.
